Whether you are a local or non-local student in Hong Kong, you are invited to become a Foodpal in the "Be My Guest" programme!

Eligibility
Local and Non-local full-time undergraduate students from HKBU, CUHK, HKUST, LU, HSUHK, POLYU and HKU who aged 18-25 with valid University & College YMCAs membership.
Membership application is open all-year-round. CLICK HERE for membership application.
(Non-local students can enjoy 1-year YMCA membership for FREE!)

Role and Resposibilities
Local students

Each local foodpal will be paired up with 1 non-local foodpal throughout the programme.

Local foodpals are expected to:
-
Be active in cultural exchange and communication with your non-local foodpal;
-
Host a homey meal for your non-local foodpal at your home or other places at least ONCE;
-
Foster cultural integration and facilitate non-local student’s adaptation to life in Hong Kong.

Note:
-
Local foodpals are not allowed to provide accommodation for non-local foodpals, vice versa.
Non-local students
*Priority will be given to those staying in Hong Kong for full-time undergraduate programmes.

The non-local foodpal will be paired up with at least 1 local foodpal.

Non-local pals are expected to:
-
Be active in cultural exchange and communication with your local foodpal;

Bring your local foodpal to your favourite restaurant from your culture for a meal showcasing the flavors of your home country at least ONCE.

Note:
-
Chinese meals and dishes are mostly non-vegetarian, using a variety of ingredients such as pork, beef, poultry, seafood and seasonal vegetables.
-
You are advised to communicate well your dietary preference to your local foodpals.
-
As hosts are expected to provide the most authentic local homey meal experience to non-local foodpals, they may not be able to make special food arrangements for participants who fail to enjoy local Chinese food and have special dietary preferences. Participants shall consider the Chinese culinary practices and eating habit before application.

Non-local foodpals will not be provided with any accommodation by local foodpals.
Programme Fee
$150 + Deposit $200*
*Refundable deposit upon the completion of all activities with satisfactory performance throughout the programme. University & College YMCA Department of Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong reserves the right of final decision for any disputes.
